The gift that keeps giving this Father’s Day
Each year as Father’s Day approaches, so too does that ultimate decision: a voucher, socks or a tie? This year, select something that makes a meaningful contribution to the world – the gift that keeps on giving.
Food For Change is working to create a sustainable future by growing fresh produce to feed Australians impacted by food insecurity. Part of our mission is to raise awareness of these issues through building a community of like-minded people who want to spread the word.
Here’s how you can make Dad a part of the change and support Food For Change’s mission to help end hunger nation-wide.
Dad’s very own veggie patch:
Does your Dad like to keep busy in the yard, or in the kitchen? Look no further than our Seeds Of Change Program. Starting at just $6.95 per packet, the unique program helps us to provide food security to Hungry Australians. Each packet contains 3 varieties of seeds, enough to keep Dad busy for hours on end while he plants them, waters them, and takes 35 photos for a new Facebook album. For each packet sold, Food For Change will donate another packet to a vulnerable Australian who would like to grow their own food. Pair the packet with some gardening tools and you’ve got the perfect present (well, definitely better than socks).
Get him a Fresh Food Box subscription:
If Dad is a little too impatient to grow the produce himself, we also have that covered with our Fresh Food Box subscriptions. Food For Change delivers fresh, locally sourced fruit and vegetable boxes to the doorsteps of homes across Victoria, NSW and the ACT. Each month Dad will receive a new box of fresh produce, and can rest easy knowing everything inside is sustainably sourced, grown locally, and contributing to improving the food security of fellow Australians.
Every time a food box subscription is purchased, it allows for 50 meals to be provided to those in Australia who need it most- struggling children and families, refugees, the homeless and many more. The best part? Our fresh food box costs just $70 and the quantity is the same as if you were to purchase from your local supermarket!
Volunteer at one of our farms:
Dad not a gardener OR a cook? Volunteering could be the way to go. Our volunteers play a crucial role helping disadvantaged individuals receive fresh meals. From being out on the field picking and planting fresh produce, to packing our boxes and preparing meals, volunteering at Food For Change is an incredibly rewarding experience for all. All volunteer roles help Food For Change on our mission to alleviate food insecurity so you and Dad spend Father’s Day making an incredible difference to the lives of less fortunate Australians.
Donate to Food For Change:
If you’re not fortunate enough to be by Dad’s side this Father’s Day to volunteer or cook with him, you can still help Food For Change through your gift by making a donation on his behalf. Not only is it a feel good gesture, but it also helps alleviate food insecurity in Australia by directly donating (either once off, or ongoing) to a meaningful cause. As a registered not for profit charity, every dollar donated goes towards feeding hungry Australians. Just $2 = 10 meals for those in need. Oh, and did we mention it’s tax free?
Purchase a bottle (or more) of wine:
We saved the best until last. What better way to show Dad how much you love him than with a bottle (or more) of his favourite drop. When you purchase from Goodwill Wine, you can donate 50% of the profit to your charity of choice, so select Food For Change to help feed vulnerable Australians.
Whether your dad lives locally, or far away, you can still show him just how much you care and appreciate him by purchasing the perfect gift – one that keeps on giving, and truly suits his interests.
