Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Wow, 2020 was certainly not what any of us expected and I know many of us are more than happy it’s in the past! While many challenges still exist and the need for food to feed hungry Australians grows, both myself and the team at Food For Change are excited about 2021!
Our first major piece of news is our “Staple’s Food Box” which has now officially launched for presale! The box provides a monthly delivery of fresh fruit, vegetables & herbs and contains a huge amount of produce all just for $70 delivered! You can even add in a bottle of wine from our friends at Goodwill Wine and all the profits from the sale of the box will go to feeding those in need.
I would like to take the time now to personally thank Jacklyn from In2Food and the entire In2Food team for all their hard work in getting the box off the ground and we are looking forward to delivering amazing, high quality fresh food to our many supporters.
Thank you again for your continued support and let’s make 2021 a year to remember for all the right reasons!
Best Wishes,
Matt Donovan: Founder & CEO
FOOD BOXES ARE HERE!
The time has come! The fresh food boxes are here, and the Food For Change team couldn’t be more excited. The wait is over and you can get those preorders in now. Each box is $70 (includes delivery cost) and is filled by the In2Food team with seasonal fruits, veg, and herbs. Orders that are placed in the month
of January will receive a complimentary bottle of Goodwill Wine. Who doesn’t want a glass of wine with their delicious, homemade meals? The Good Foundation, another incredible partner, will include a recipe card that incorporates the items in the box. This month’s dish may or may not include zucchini …

THE GIFT OF DONATING
In a time of hardship, the Food For Change community has generously donated more this year than years prior. This is through grant funding, individual donations, and a new farm. The power of giving multiples and multiples.
How can you help? Try to make it a habit to set aside money. Simply $1 is equivalent to 2 meals. Or if you happen to have excess food, donate it to Food For Change. Imagine the impact that can make!
The most exciting news of 2020 was when Food For Change signed on another land partnership – Briars Farm! The donor, The Gibson Foundation, also donated $30K. This is an example of immense generosity and how it will positively affect many people.
THE GIFT OF VOLUNTEERING
Who are Food For Change’s volunteers and how do I get involved? It can be individuals, companies, groups … truly anyone who is willing to get their hands dirty. Sign up to be a volunteer via the Food For Change’s website. Our team can always use the help.
“ONE OF THE GREAT IRONIES OF LIFE IS THIS: HE OR SHE WHO SERVES ALMOST ALWAYS BENEFITS MORE THAN HE OR SHE WHO IS SERVED.”
THE GIFT OF OUTREACH AND EDUCATION
To help the food crisis situation, one has to be informed of the issue through viable sources. You can’t help the problem if you aren’t educated on the problem. The food insecurity crisis is prevalent throughout Australia. Serious action needs to take place to redirect wasted food to those experiencing hunger. There are a number of different ways to educate yourself on food insecurity.
One of Food For Change’s top partners is Foodbank. This organization releases an annual report on food insecurity statistics in Australia, and what has been done in 2020 and what can be done in 2021.
Follow along on Food For Change’s social media channels (linked below). In November, the month highlighted where a donated dollar goes and how it ultimately combats the food insecurity crisis.
Find a reliable news source, and consistently read up on food management and those who rely on the government for access to food.
THE GIFT OF CHANGING SOMEONE’S LIFE
The gift of changing someone’s life can look different person to person. It could be simply smiling at a stranger, listening to a friend’s story, or participating at Food For Change. A simple act of kindness goes a long way.
The gift of changing someone’s life sounds seemingly difficult but it is in fact easier than one thinks.
Food For Change allows you to bring your unique skills to the table, and use it in a way that benefits all. By donating money or donating your time, you are helping your community in more ways than you know.

FIELD STORIES
This month, Food For Change is highlighting our very own Genesa Garbarino! As the Director and PR Officer, she has contributed creative ideas and guided the team through many visionary goals. Her persistence and devotion to Food For Change is the reason why there have been big strides made in the Australian food system.
In Genesa’s free time, she spends it in sunny Santa Monica with her closest friends and family. Although she lives half way around the world, she consistently puts her time and attention into her work.
Food For Change couldn’t do it without her!
WHAT IS HAPPENING
