It’s that time of year again – yep, you guessed it, new year resolutions!

At a time when most people are focussing on fitness or career goals, why not consider what you can change to benefit beyond just you? In a world where we are consumed by work, entertainment, and consumption – the true new years resolution that we encourage everyone to integrate – is pledging to give back.

The stark reality is that more than 80,000 Australians seeking food relief are turned away per month.

Sadly, one third of these are children.

At Food for Change, we’re on a mission to change that, and we can’t do it alone. So as we head into a fresh new year, adopting resolutions to change and grow – why not consider joining the mission to alleviate hunger? We are seeking volunteers, donations, and support. Here’s how you can help:

Volunteering:

Join our community of empowering, passionate volunteers, who have experienced, first-hand, the transformation experienced through helping disadvantaged individuals receive meals – after weeks, or even months, of not having a substantial meal. All volunteer roles help Food For Change on our mission to alleviate food insecurity and our regular weekly volunteers. Food For Change has opportunities for individuals, corporate teams, school outfits and other organisations on both our farms, which are located in Melbourne and on the Mornington Peninsula. Group volunteering days are a great way for your team to bond and make a contribution to the local community. For more info on Volunteering Click Here.

Donations:

You can help Food For Change on our mission to alleviate food insecurity in Australia by donating directly to us as a one off, or ongoing. A great resolution might be to divert one of your weekly latte purchases to Food For Change. As a registered not for profit charity, every $ donated goes towards feeding hungry Australians and $2 = 10 meals for those in need. Donate Here!

Tasting our goods – seeds of change or fresh food boxes:

With a monthly box of fresh produce, you can rest easy knowing that the food you’re eating is sustainably sourced, grown locally, and contributing to improving the food security of fellow Australians. Our fresh food box costs just $70 and the quantity is the same as if you were to purchase from your local supermarket! And the best part? Every time a food box subscription is purchased, it allows for 50 meals to be provided to those in Australia who need it most. For more food box info Click Here.

So while you are questioning what you would like for dinner, there are people across the nation wondering how they will get their dinner – if they get any at all. We ask that you pledge to pay it forward this year – to be a part of a community of people who choose, each day, to add brightness to other’s lives by providing them with the basic rights we have – being food. Plus, it certainly feels good to give.
