How Can I Donate Food?
You may be wondering: how can I donate food?, this post will cover all of the ways that you can donate food to the people in need. Donating surplus food is one of the best ways that you can help combat food insecurity.
By donating food to fellow Australians in need, you help the Food For Change team fulfil our mission. We are a food charity dedicated to helping alleviate nationwide hunger, in the hope that no individual or family goes without food in the future.
Drop Off Donations
Currently, there are over 2500 Food Relief Organisations responsible for feeding Australians who are suffering the effects of food insecurity, every day.
These organisations require donations from individuals and businesses to provide hunger relief across the country, and this is how you can help.
At Food For Change, we believe anyone who has excess food should be able to donate it in the easiest possible way. This is why we accept donations at a number of different locations across Australia.
To donate food and groceries to Food For Change, you have two options.
Firstly, you have the option to drop the food off at one of our many farm sites dotted across Australia.
If you’re not located near a farm site, you can find your closest Food Relief Organisation on the Donate Food page. The page will direct you to the closest organisation that accepts donations near you.
Food You Can Donate
At Food For Change, we accept all food donations excluding cooked rice and seafood products. We do not accept any food that isn’t suitable for human consumption.
If you have extra food and groceries at home, feeding hungry Australians is the best way to use it – while also having the benefit of reducing food waste.
We accept all types of food in the following categories:
- Fruit & Veg
- Meat & Poultry
- Bakery
- Dried Goods
- Tinned Goods
- Frozen Goods
- Dairy
All food donations, big or small, go a long way to making a difference in the lives of Australians.
Each donation at our food charity works together to create complete meals, helping to provide hunger relief.
Donation Recipients
We accept donations on behalf of those who need it most.
All donations are distributed to the Food Relief Organisations that we support. These organisations then send the food to people from all walks of life, including but not limited to:
- Children.
- People suffering homelessness.
- Elderly.
- Refugees.
- And more.
Providing hunger relief to people who are at risk of food insecurity is one of the most direct actions we can take to help fellow Australians in need.
